Dr. John P. Wing joined Innovara as a Senior Consultant in May of 2016. John is currently involved in the development and facilitation of training programs for Medical Affairs and Healthcare professionals. Some of the programs that he is involved with are Foundations for Medical Science Liaisons©™, Technical Coaching for MSL Managers©™, and Executive Coaching to Advance Medical/Scientific Presentation Skills™.
Prior to joining Innovara, John was the Director of Training and Effectiveness for Global Medical Affairs at Shire Pharmaceuticals. In this role, he supported the strategic planning, development and execution of training and development programs for Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Affairs Specialists and Medical Directors in Shire’s Rare Disease Business Unit. The purpose of these programs was to support the scientific educational and professional development of a diverse global Medical Affairs team.
John received his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Massachusetts, and he has held a variety of positions in both the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry and Academia.
At Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, John led an assay development team of scientists whose main role was to support the development of Macugen, an FDA approved drug for Age Related Macular Degeneration. At Phylos, he led a team to support the continued development and innovation of the company’s proprietary mRNA display technology.
After Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, John joined the Biology department at Boston College as a Visiting Assistant Professor. While at B.C., he acted as the principal investigator for a molecular genetics lab, consisting of graduate and undergraduate students performing independent thesis. He also developed and taught a variety of lecture and laboratory courses in the areas of Genetics and Molecular Biology. John currently holds an Adjunct Faculty position at Framingham State University, where he supports a Master’s in Biotechnology program.
