FOUNDATIONS FOR MEDICAL SCIENCE LIAISONS™ (“FMSL”) OPEN SEMINAR IN SOUTH KOREA WAS A REAL SUCCESS

The Innovara Foundations for Medical Science Liaisons™(“FMSL”) 3 day open seminar held in Seoul, South Korea last week was a real success – also a first public seminar specifically for Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) in Asia (conducted in South Korea).

On the first day, Participants covered key competencies and functions of MSLs. They completed a competency assessment tool, showing most needed to learn more about how to collaborate with physicians involved in research (IIT/IIR/IIS). This became one of the most highly valued sessions (and tool) as the participants diagnosed their own development priorities and needs.

On the second day, we focused strictly on engaging with thought leaders involved in research. It was exhausting, but the participants rated this most highly of all the sessions. For the final day, we focused on other ways MSLs work with thought leaders and add value.

One additional highlight of the program was the Patient Journey exercise where the teams worked to figure out ways that the MSL can add value to the thought leaders and specialists in order to aid their patients and improve sustainable outcomes. Overall the participants were truly engaged and also appreciated the chance to work in teams where they learned from and about each other.

Special thanks to Dr. Samuel Dyer, Chairman of the Board for the Medical Science Liaison Society for leading various MSL sessions.
